Magnetic Resonance Imaging – MRI in our Scottsdale Clinic

MRI stands for magnetic resonance imaging and is commonly used to diagnose medical diseases. Our partner Arizona MRI has an open MRI available at our Scottsdale clinic. Using the latest cutting-edge technology, our MRI assists our physicians in making a correct diagnosis faster. Those with claustrophobic tendencies who are uncomfortable in a traditional MRI may find that their scan is more comfortable in the open MRI. Patients often state they enjoy the additional room that a closed, traditional MRI does not offer.

Along with the convenience of an on-site MRI in the Scottsdale office of Arizona Pain Specialists, Arizona MRI offers same-day appointments with early and late openings to fit your schedule.

How does MRI work?

By pairing a magnet with radiofrequency technology, we are able to create a real-time image of your internal systems. These clear, precise images allow the physician to evaluate your condition more thoroughly and give them internal information that may not be apparent from a physical examination.

Is MRI safe?

Yes! Your scan will be performed by a licensed technologist who has your safety and comfort in mind. Another benefit of MRI is that there is no exposure to radiation.

What can I expect during my scan?

Upon arrival, you will be asked to fill out a safety questionnaire that will aid the technologist in ensuring your safety during your scan. You will be asked to disrobe and will be provided with medically appropriate attire. You will be requested to place all personal items in a locker provided for you. The technologist will instruct you prior to and during your scan to ensure the best quality images. You can expect your scan to last 30-45 minutes. Because our Scottsdale office features open MRI, we ensure a safe, comfortable environment for our patients during this routine diagnostic test.

“The technologist was so caring and helpful, it made the MRI the easiest part of my day.”
Jennifer G.

Is there any other information I should know?

To expedite and make the process easier, please wear comfortable clothing that is free of metal. Please leave your jewelry, belts, and watches at home or in your vehicle, and be advised that your purse, wallet, keys, and cell phone will be placed in the provided locker. If you have any stents, a pacemaker, or any other implanted device, please let your practitioner know when they request your MRI appointment. Likewise, you can call the technologist three to five days before your appointment to ensure your safety. The open MRI in Scottsdale has a weight limit of 450 pounds.

How soon will I receive my results?

Upon checkout, one of our friendly front-desk staff will schedule your follow-up appointment approximately five days after your MRI. At this appointment you can expect your MRI results and concurrent plan of action. Should you need copies of films or a CD, please ask the front-desk staff.
